Contraception Services at Ascent Pharmacy
If you have questions about your contraception, need a repeat prescription, or want to start on the pill for the first time, Ascent Pharmacy offers a convenient solution with the new NHS-funded community pharmacy contraception service.
Who is the Service For?
Available to any female patient in England from the onset of menstruation through age 54.
What is the Pharmacy Contraception Service?
Our service enables you to obtain contraception directly from your local pharmacy without needing to see a doctor or nurse. Participating pharmacies across England provide both progesterone-only pills (mini pills) and combined pills (containing both progesterone and oestrogen). The service is free, offering an initial supply of up to 3 months, extendable to 12 months once stabilised, saving you time and effort.
How to Access the Service:
Visit a participating pharmacy and speak to a pharmacist—no GP referral or NHS 111 call required. If the service isn't immediately available, our team will schedule a consultation for you.
During your appointment, you’ll complete a brief questionnaire and provide some health information. The pharmacist will discuss your contraception options and help you choose the best method for you. If you're already using contraception, bring your empty pill packet to ensure you receive the same medication.
Confidentiality:
Your privacy is paramount. All information shared during your consultation is confidential and securely stored.
